Main creative voice for DIRECTV Sports 4 regional sport networks. 

 

 

I was recruited to fill the newly created position to build out the creative hub to service 3 RSN’s (Colorado, Seattle, and Pittsburgh).  I became the main creative voice for the DIRECTV 4(Houston network added) regional sports network, which included all motion design on-air show packages, on-air promotional campaigns, print, stadium and affiliate branding. 

Lead staff of 15 direct reports plus additional 10 freelancers.

 

 

DIRECTV Sports | Rebrand Root Sports | MLB NBA NHL CFB CBB

I was building the creative team while also rolling out the rebrand from FOX Sports Net to ROOT Sports (DIRECTV Sports).   

DIRECTV had been working with Troika and it was my job to interrupt the new style and build out additional elements for the game packages, insert packages, bug and train operators on the new look. 

Over 4,000 animations were created to support programming

 

DIRECTV Sports | RSN Southwest Launch

I was tasked with launching a FOURTH RSN in Houston with only 3 month timeline. 

I led a team of internal creatives and freelancers to build show packages for the Houston Astros, Rockets, Dynamo and colligate content.  My team filmed games, interviewed players and creating 360 campaigns educating viewers of the changes coming.   

Additionally I was in charge of all building, stadium and suite branding.

 

I led my new team to create an integrated marketing campaign to communicate the new ROOT Sports brand. 

The 360 campaign included digital, email, social, print and on-air and won 4 regional Emmy’s, 2 Promax Awards as well as nomination for BEST INTEGRATED CAMPAIGN at Promax.

 

DIRECTV Sports | Rebrand | MLB regional shoot

I led the MLB multi-city shoot project.  This was a massive shoot where two teams of 4 crew members traveled to every city that hosted an MLB team. They captured footage around the region, which would be used in the new rebrand AT&T Sports.

We wanted thrilling action and fun locations so whitewater rafting on the Colorado River, Zip lining In the Rockies, filming 100 head of horses stampeding through a river on a dude ranch, driving sports cars up the PCH or Ocean Drive in Miami were just a few of the fun things we did.

 

The ROOT Sports 360 campaign was developed to promote MLB content on DIRECTV’s four regional sports networks.  This campaign promoted over 600 MLB games by using on-air, digital, print, radio, in-game and in-arena.

 

Pirates highlights would be dropped into the music videos and the videos were used to wrap every ROOT Sports Friday broadcast thus branding the night FRIDAY NIGHT ROCKS.

 

Root Sports Southwest | Set

DIRECTV was launching a new RSN in Houston.  The new set would be the home for the Houston Astros, Rockets and Dynamo so it needed to be versatile in both functionality and design in order to accommodate each team.  

DIRECTV wanted the set design strong enough that it could be adopted in the other three ROOT Sports networks.
